How High are you Willing to Reach?

Reach high, for stars lie hidden in your soul. Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal. - Pamela Vaull Starr

What would it mean to you to reach high? Anything worth having is certainly worth stretching for. Stretching means exercise. You will need to exercise your imagination, your vision and your willingness. When you can clearly see what you are reaching for, you can stack up the furniture and climb. If more effort went into moving forward than into creating reasons why not, more would be accomplished.

Accomplishing more is completely defined by you. For some folks, it may mean being more loving, less sarcastic, exercising fifteen minutes a day. For others, it may mean running a marathon, building a new business, and learning to fly an airplane. It is a relative term and you decide what it means. It seems that our world has a less gentle view of it. You are petitioned to do more, be more, spend more, have more with every advertisement you see. Those are choices and each of you has the right and the opportunity to choose what "accomplishing more" means for you. There is no right answer. We all have habits, situations, relationships or careers that can improve. You choose what you are moving forward in your life.

Reaching for the stars may be another way of saying, "Keep on growing!"

ARE YOU ON YOUR OWN TEAM?

A team player knows the name of the game.
A team player remembers why he is on the field.
A team player looks out for other players.
A team player does her best.
A team player does not let down the side.
A team player does not give up on the game.
A team player lifts the morale when necessary.
A team player is accountable.
A team player wants to achieve the mission.
A team player can be relied upon.
A team player is encouraging.
A team player stays in the game.
A team player uses his skills and strengths.

You can add your own here. The point is that you may be more likely to play well on someone else's team than you do on your own. It's so much easier to give up on our own dreams. You think you do not lose face when you fail to keep your commitments to yourself. After all, who knows you let yourself down?

That's the important thing. You know! Keeping your commitments to yourself is the key to having unstoppable self-confidence. Really! If you have any question that this is true, try it.

Promise yourself that you will do something for twenty-one days and DO IT! Show yourself that you are trustworthy. Don't tell anyone. Do it for yourself alone. Do it without fail for twenty-one days. Make sure it gets taken care of every day, no matter what. Even if you have to drag yourself out of bed, do it. Surely you can do anything for that short time period, right?

At the end of the three weeks, you will have demonstrated your strength. You will also have taught yourself an important lesson: you can be a priority in your life. You do have enough time and energy. You are a person of your word. Your integrity has taken a leap forward. You can count on you. That is self-confidence. You gave it to yourself.

The good news is it was there all the time just waiting for you to run with it. Keep going! Always play on your own team!
